Luck In Chinese Spring Festival
The Spring Festival, is a unique national complex symbol for Chinese people. Although China is now in a fast-developing modern society, traditions are still preserved and passed on. I want to show the traditional customs of the modern Chinese nation by exploring the superstitions people have during the Spring Festival. I combined the effective questionnaires and survey reports on the Internet to analyze and sort out the data. I use modern, colliding colors to represent China's development. At the same time, I used traditional Chinese elements to show the traditional New Year atmosphere. In this work, I use repeated, abstract patterns to express different meanings of luck words in Chinese Spring Festival.
Elements Analyze And Simplify
I found that if people wish to have luck, they always wish in six different areas, love, longevity, weather, wealth, career and daily life. I use six key words to show the different luck words that we usually have. I draw some relate pictures to show them. Then I simplify these pictures to victor pictures for design.
Letter Design
In Spring Festival, people like to write mascot congratulations as conjuncts, and many common ones are “fortune and treasure”, “Confucius and Mencius learn well” and so on. The phrases and words will combine together.
Liquor Bottle Design
During Spring Festival, people will bring liquor to their friends and relatives as gift for new year, especially when people go to the important elder people’s home. Among many different kinds of liquor, Maotai liquor is the most famous and expensive Chinese liquor in the world. I design a cover for Maotai liquor bottle and use repeated, bright color elements to show the good bless that people wish to have.
Candy Design
During the Spring Festival, kids could each candy with no limit I made a package for candy by using elements and words I used before.
